1st Cowal Boys' Brigade & Girls' Association looking for volunteers to help develop young people

We are looking for enthusiastic people aged 18 or over who have a passion for helping young people.

The Boys' Brigade & Girls' Association is one of the world's oldest uniformed youth organisations have been founded in Glasgow in 1883. The first annual camp took place in our own county in Tighnabruaich.

No experience is necessary for the role, all we ask is that you are passionate and willing to undertake all the required training for this role.

Who are you?

- You might be participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award or another scheme that requires completion of Community Engagement.
- You might be someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to spend a couple of hours a week in a fun, caring and safe environment helping young people to Learn, Grow & Discover.

What will we need?

- We need leaders who are willing and able to help develop a programme of activities (either from the provided activity packs or using your own experience)

- Leaders who are fun and engaging and like to get stuck in and engaged with the activities taking place

- We offer a flexible approach whether you can volunteer every week or once a month - we can work with you, however all we do ask is that if you agree to attend a particular session you keep that commitment or give us reasonable notice so we can build a Plan B

Perks and Benefits
On top of the joy from helping and seeing young people grow and develop during their (potential) 13 years with us, we offer some great benefits;

- Excellent Youth Leadership Training
- Training in Camp Craft & Holiday Leadership
- Opportunities to undertake training in Expedition Leadership and Duke of Edinburgh's Assessors training
- We will also support participants undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and those participating in the SALTIRE award
- You will also get to participate in excursions and residentials

We can also provide additional opportunities to influence Boys' Brigade nationally and also to undertake further training through a range of partners such as the Boys' Brigade Canoe Club or the Boys' Brigade Mountaineering Club

Skills You'll Need
No specific skills needed - just your natural enthusiasm and willingness to learn

To become a leader with us you will have to undergo a PVG check, as well as undertake Youth Leadership Training prior to becoming a leader with us. Training takes place regularly throughout the year, currently via Zoom due to COVID restrictions with evening or weekend options available
